Workshops & trade transmission
Practical training in ancestral techniques. We recover manual knowledge through real practice.
Heritage only lives if it is transmitted. At Alqatifa, we understand training as a responsibility to prevent the extinction of trades that have sustained our architecture for centuries.
The school of trades
We open our workshop and our sites to teach technique through real practice. We do not teach manual “recipes,” but how to understand the material: when the lime is ready to trowel, how a float sounds when burnishing tadelakt…
We organise intensive sessions where getting your hands dirty is mandatory. It is the only way to understand that natural building is not a trend, but ancestral knowledge. Furthermore, we believe that, to master the technique, theory is essential, so we provide notes and bibliography for those who want to go deeper.
Unique characteristics
Learning by doing
Our workshops are not just theoretical. They are based on material manipulation, mortar mixing and the bodily gesture of application.
In-company training
We teach conventional masonry crews to work with natural materials, upskilling them in bioconstruction techniques.
Vernacular techniques
Monographic courses on traditional techniques.
