Traditional paving workshop

During three days of learning and coexistence at the I Traditional Construction Days, participants discovered the essence of Axarquía’s vernacular construction, weaving a deep bond with the past and the territory.

Thanks to the enthusiasm and hands of the students, a traditional stone pavement was materialized, which now forms part of the patio of the Casa Al-Zaytun village house. This experience was possible thanks to the collaboration of Casa Al-Zaytun, who offered their space, and the local support of El Soyuco and Alberto Escolano Pastor, who enriched the days with local gastronomy and stories.

Beyond the execution, the workshop represented a recovery of the manual gesture in paving. The technique of Granadian and Malagueño stone pavement was addressed, where the living stone dictates the rhythm of the ground. Participants learned to manage runoff and texture, understanding that the pavement is not just a finish, but a technical skin that breathes, drains, and endures.
