Casa Carmelita
Technical consulting & Workshops & training
Casa Carmelita, located in the heart of the Sierra de las Nieves (Tolox), was born with the vocation of being a space for retreat and connection with the essential. The project, led by Gaelle Vervaeke, seeks to rehabilitate the home with respect, health, and the quiet rhythm of the environment.
Our intervention focused on the sanitation of the ground floor, an area affected by rising damp (capillary moisture). Aerial lime was the protagonist of the technical solution: a breathable material strictly compatible with ancient walls, which allows humidity regulation and provides a living, natural, and healthy finish.
Beyond the execution, the work had a strong educational component. We shared days of learning and craft with the owner and her mother, training them in the application of these renders. This transfer of knowledge allows them to autonomously continue with the restoration of the rest of the house, turning the work into a process of shared care and assisted self-construction.
