Al-Zaytun house
Tadelakt
In the historic center of Canillas de Aceituno, Al-Zaytun House occupies a building with over three centuries of history, carefully rehabilitated to become a unique tourist accommodation. Sharing walls with the village church, the house stands out for its character and respect for tradition.
Our intervention focused on the bathrooms, applying a continuous tadelakt coating, formulated and executed by us. We used an artisanal lime mortar, pigmented with natural iron oxide provided by the ceramist and promoter of the project.
The silky, mineral finish was achieved through a meticulous burnishing process with agate stones, followed by waterproofing with natural black soap and a final blend of beeswax and carnauba wax. The result is warm, joint-free bathrooms of timeless beauty that age nobly and dialogue with the historic architecture of the place.
