Traditional stone paving is a permeable pavement executed manually with pebbles or natural stone on earth or lime bases. More than a rustic finish, it is a technical skin designed to manage water runoff and recover landscape identity, aging with dignity and allowing the ground to breathe.
In the Axarquía region of Málaga and on the streets of Granada, this technique has survived for centuries. At Alqatifa, we recover it not out of nostalgia, but for its functional relevance: stone pavings are permeable surfaces that manage runoff naturally, returning water to the ground.
We work on compacted earth bases, stabilized gravel, or lime mortars, depending on the load and drainage requirements of each project. The result is a pavement that breathes, ages with dignity, and connects the built space with the vernacular landscape.
